Beauty Battle: NARS All Day Luminous Weightless Foundation vs. NARS Sheer Glow Foundation

When it comes to foundation, it seems like the words “luminous” and “glow” may mean the same thing. Originally, I also felt this way, which is why I couldn’t understand why NARS had two foundations that basically seemed the same. Lets see how these two foundations stack up in a competition.

The first NARS foundation I purchased was NARS All Day Luminous Weightless Foundation. My shade is New Guinea (med/dark 5) and I purchased this foundation for $48 from Sephora. The bottle is made of frosted glass and contains a fluid ounce of product. Compared to similar foundations, this foundation is opaque and very liquidy. Medium to buildable full coverage helps to cover most marks and discoloration.

This foundation does make your skin look luminous. It looks like you’ve applied a small amount of highlighter in all the right places. If you don’t wear primer and have oily skin you will look greasy. Also, this foundation doesn’t really last all day, however it did last for about 6 to 8 hours. Let’s review some of the pros and cons for NARS All Day Luminous Weightless Foundation.

Pros

·      Great coverage

·      Very blendable

·      Opaque coverage

Cons

·      Can look greasy if you don’t use a primer

·      Doesn’t last all day

·      May not be suited for oily skin types

I was not completely satisfied with my first NARS foundation so I bought another one. I always wanted to try Sheer Matte, but I missed out on that one. To me, the next best thing was NARS Sheer Glow. I purchased this foundation from Sephora for $45 in the shade New Guinea (med/dark 5). It comes in a clear glass bottle with an ounce of product. Most people assume that this foundation has a satin finish because of the name, but it doesn’t. My favorite feature of this foundation is that it has a natural matte finish. The second best feature of this foundation is the “glow”. Unlike most glow makeup claims, Sheer Glow looks like a natural glow to your skin instead of looking like you loaded up on highlighter.

If you have oily or oily combination skin you may want to use a matte primer so you can avoid looking greasy. Even with light sweating this foundation will last 8 to 10 hours. In terms of consistency, this liquid foundation is very thick however; it is still easy to blend. The color is very vivid and covers most blemishes and imperfections. In photos and real life this foundation can look so natural. Here are some of the pros and cons of NARS Sheer Glow Foundation.

Pros

·      Very blendable

·      Looks natural in photos and in real life

·      Last 8 to 10 hours

Cons

·      Glass bottle

·      Can make you look oily

·      Bottle seems small

The winner: My favorite NARS foundation is NARS Sheer Glow foundation. I need a foundation that last all day and looks natural. Although I wear both foundations all the time, I have to say I reach for Sheer Glow everyday.
