Beauty Battle: Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz vs MAC Eye Brows

The worse part of having sparse eyebrows is that you try every brow product, trying to fill them in. Before I started with gels, pomades, and shadows, I tried pencils. Eyebrow pencils are the fastest way to fill in sparse brows. Using small strokes, just create your desired brow shape. Clean it up with some concealer and you are ready to walk out the door.

My personally preference is for automatic eyebrow pencils that you don’t have to sharpen. The best automatic eyebrow pencils that I have tried are Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz and MAC Eye Brows.

MAC Eye Brows was the first high-end automatic eyebrow pencil I tried.  It cost $16 for 0.003 ounces of product and comes in 6 shades.  Like all MAC cosmetics, you can purchase this pencil at one of their stores or makeup counters.

The shades I used were Spiked and Stud. This pencil quickly fills in brows where there is already hair, but it is harder to use on skin. The color also looks really dark really fast so you have to constantly blend it out with a brush. This pencil also breaks a lot compare to other automatic pencil products I have used. What made me try this pencil first was because it is the most affordable high-end eyebrow pencil I could find. Here are some of the pros and cons of MAC’s Eye Brows:

Pros

Most affordable high-end eyebrow pencil

Comes in 6 shades

Cons

Does not apply well to skin

Breaks easily

Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz is an automatic brow pencil that is sold at Sephora, Ulta, and Anastasiabeverlyhills.com. It cost $21 for 0.003 ounces of products and comes in 9 shades. I have used the shades Ebony, Dark brown, and medium brown. This texture is very creamy and it works on both skin and brow hairs.

The spoolie brush on the end of the pencil makes it so easy to blend the color to make it look more natural. The finish is a natural matte that blends with glossy eyebrow hairs, but it isn’t completely dry looking. The brush is very strong and doesn’t break easily. Brow Wiz also has shades suitable for gray, blonde, and red eyebrow hairs. These are some of the pros and cons of Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz:

Pros

Comes in 9 shades

Works on both skin and hair

Cons

More expensive than most automatic eyebrow pencils

Is usually sold out in stores

The Winner: If you have sparse brows, you need a product that works well on skin and hair. Although you may have sticker shock at first, when you see how great your brows look it will be worth it. Also, the shade range makes it easy to find the perfect shade for your hair color and skin tone.
