The Best Beauty Looks From New York Fashion Week Fall 2014
What made this recent New York Fashion Week, Fall 2014 especially wonderful was the abundance of unique makeup and hair looks. Instead of just enhancing beauty basics, designers went above and beyond to create rare beauty and hair concepts that are truly inspiring. Out of all the shows, here are my favorites looks.
The Blonds
By far, this was the most inventive makeup look. Although this look is very over the top, it also has a lot of elements that will work great in any your everyday makeup application. My favorite elements of this makeup application are the high arched eyebrows, the glitter brow highlight and the full false lashes. The inspiration for The Blonds this season was Gotham City, specifically Cat Woman. Pink and black lips added a finishing touch; along with a asymmetrical blond wig with a funky a triangular bang.
Zac Posen
Zac Posen was one of the few designers who weren’t afraid to feature the newly popular kitty cat eyeliner technique. This technique is similar to the cat eye except you don’t line the lash line, only the inner and outer corners of the eye. The rest of the look was very minimalistic featuring full brows, rosy cheeks, and a red lip.
Marchesa
Neon eyeliner has been done before but not quite like this. Instead of lining the lash line, the liner is used to create a cut crease. This eye look may seem understated, but it allows the coral colored lip and glowing highlight to be more prominent. For hair, each model wore four straight back cornrows with the rest of their hair straight back.
Oscar de la Renta
A traditional smoky eye usually consist of colors like black and grey, but models in the Oscar de la Renta show wore a brown and taupe version. This brown version is just as dramatic, however it’s less harsh and distracting. Along with the smoky eye, the models wore a mauve colored blush and natural pink lipstick. Like a lot of the looks from New York Fashion Week the models wore blunt cut wigs.
Rodarte
Lavender was the featured color that adorned the faces of their models during Rodarte’s fall presentation. The eyeshadow was matte lavender and the lipstick is a glittery/shimmery shade. The hair was styled with a deep side part and a braided front bang. This simple beauty and hair styling allowed the clothes to be the main focus on each model, yet the models still look beautiful and modern.
