Beauty Battle: Anastasia Beverly Hills Dipbrow vs. Makeup Forever Aqua Brow
Glamorous brows have played a vital part of many runway looks during New York Fashion Week Fall 2014 RTW. Designers like Jason Wu, Sophia Theallet and Donna Karan all showed runway makeup looks that featured a strong brow. Pencils and powders are no longer the only way to achieve full brows if you weren’t born with them.
The secrets to creating beautiful brows are small strokes and starting with an outline. When you fill in your brows, first outline the desired shape you want for each brow. Then use small strokes to fill in your brow. Naturally your eyebrows are about 2 shades lighter than the hair on your head. The shade of your eyebrow product should never be black, even if you have jet-black hair. If you have red hair, use auburn or “universal” colored eyebrow product, not red eyeshadows or lip pencils.

Popular brow products that aren’t pencils or powders are usually liquid brow fillers or eyebrow mousse. What makes these products different from traditional eyebrow products are that there usually waterproof and often promise to last for over 12 hours. If you workout, have oily skin, or you need your eyebrows to stay in place all day you should try one of these two products. Two popular liquid/mousse eyebrow products are Anastasia Beverly Hills Dipbrow Pomade and Makeup Forever Aqua Brow.
Makeup Forever’s Aqua brow is sold at Sephora for $20. It comes in 4 shades: light blonde, blonde, ash and dark brown. This gel-based product comes in a squeeze tube package containing 0.23 ounces of product. It is hard to control how much product comes out and you’ll probably end up with some extra. The gel has a very liquid consistency. Since this product is very pigmented, it will stain your fingers and skin. Although it may cause some staining, it is waterproof and sweat-proof. This product is best applied with a small stiff angled brush. Let’s review some of the pros and cons of Makeup Forever’s Aqua Brow.
Pros
· Has a shade for blondes
· Is very pigmented
· Waterproof and sweat proof
Cons
· Stains your fingers and skin
· Doesn’t have a shade for red heads
· Is hard to blend
A new eyebrow mousse that just came out this year is Anastasia Beverly Hills Dipbrow Pomade. It cost $18 and is available at Sephora and Ulta. The Dipbrow Pomade is a cream pigment and comes in a pot with 0.14 ounces of product. There are 4 shades: Auburn, Blonde, Chocolate, and Ebony. This product is easy to apply and the creamy texture is very easy to blend. Once the product dries, you can rub it but won’t smudge or wipe off. It does have a scent, which could be a bad thing for those who are sensitive to fragrances. Here are some of the pros and cons of Anastasia Beverly Hills Dipbrow Pomade.
Pros
· Has a shade for red heads
· Blends to look more natural
· Creamy texture makes it easy to apply
Cons
· Doesn’t have any shades for light blondes
· Has a slight scent
· Is usually sold out
The winner: Anastasia Beverly Hills makes the best brow products of any makeup brand and their Dipbrow Pomade is the best. It’s easy to use, easy to clean up, and easy to love.
