Beauty Battle: MAC Select Cover-Up vs. L.A Girl Pro Conceal HD Concealer

Concealer is one of the hardest beauty items to choose correctly. You need one shade for the center of your face and another shade to cover imperfections. Since you need two, it’s important to find one that really works.

The most common uses for concealer are highlighting and covering blemishes. Two concealers that are great for everything are MAC Select Cover-Up and L.A Girl Pro Conceal HD Concealer.

MAC Select Cover-Up

I have tried so many high-end concealers and I’ve been disappointed by almost all of them. After a week, I usually return them because they settle into lines and cause me to break out. One of my favorite high-end concealers is MAC’s Select Cover-Up. This concealer has a thin consistency and is very creamy. A small amount goes a long way and it comes in 13 different shades. The best uses for this concealer are under eye highlighting and brow defining.  Not only is this product a concealer it can also be used as a foundation.

One of the drawbacks of this concealer is that it is not sweat proof or resistant. This product will literally melt of your face in hot weather climates. Another drawback is the price $19 for only 0.33 ounces of product. Although there are a lot of shades, most of them have yellow undertones.

L.A Girl Pro Conceal HD Concealer

This probably one of the best makeup purchases I’ve made this year. This concealer comes in 18 shades including deep and dark shades.  The consistency is thick and creamy. The shades come in neutral, yellow, and red undertones. It only cost $3 for 0.25 ounces of product and it can be found at your local beauty supply store or online. If you need a concealer that will last through sweat and tears this is it, it’s water resistant and can take the heat. This concealer can be used for highlighting, brow defining and covering blemishes.

The only bad thing about this product is the applicator. The applicator tip is a brush, it makes it easier to apply under your eyes but it makes it harder to apply anywhere else.

The winner: L.A Girl Pro Conceal HD Concealer is comparable to MAC’s Select Cover-Up and it’s 16 dollars less. At this price point you’ll be able to get all the different shades you need for your entire face. And L.A. Girl products are cruelty free.
