Beauty Battle: Maybelline Dream Bouncy Blush vs. NYX Rouge Cream Blush

One of the best things about makeup is that the same type of product is available in many different finishes. Powder products blend easily, but they don’t have as much staying power on oily (or sweaty) skin. An alternative to powders that last longer is cream.

If you want to wear minimal face makeup that last a long time, cream blush is a product you will need. Cream blushes usually work on all skin tones and they are available in shades similar to powder blushes. Although there are high-end options, drugstore cream blushes are less like to melt during the summer. Two of the best cream blushes are Maybelline Dream Bouncy Blush and NYX Rouge Cream Blush.

NYX Rouge Cream Blush comes in 9 shades and cost $6 at Ulta or nyxcosmetics.com. Each blush contains 0.12 ounces of product and the texture is a solid cream. This blush is hypoallergenic and cruelty free which is a great extra. To apply this product you can use your fingers or a sponge. If you apply it with your fingers, it will stain them a little. However, the warmth from your body will make it easier to blend. Unlike most cream blushes, NYX’s version is extremely pigmented and will definitely work for any skin tone. All the shades are pink, orange, or brown based. Let’s review some of the pros and cons of NYX Cosmetics Rouge Cream Blush

Pros

  • Available in 9 shades

Maybelline Dream Bouncy Blush can be purchased at Wal-Mart and is available in 10 shades. Each package contains 0.19 ounces of product and cost $7. The name “Dream Bouncy Blush” comes from the products unique cream to powder finish. Unlike other cream blushes, this blushes dries more matte and less pigmented.  Since it is not the creamiest cream blush, it does tug at your skin when you apply it. This unique texture makes it harder to blend when compared to other cream products. Here are some of the pros and cons of Maybelline Dream Bouncy Blush.

Pros

  • Available at most drugstores
  • Comes in 10 shades
  • Has a large amount of product

Cons

  • Tugs at your skin
  • Is hard to blend
  • Isn’t creamy

The winner: The NYX Rouge Cream Blush blends better and is easier to use. Although it may be hard to find in stores, it won’t tug at your skin, which subsequently can cause wrinkles.
