A Review: Acer Aspire 11.6 inch Cloudbook
Like a lot of people I use my computer all the time. I use it for writing, checking emails, planning vacations, and other standard things people use personal computers for in 2016. I have a MacBook Pro and I love it. I purchased it for graduate school in 2012 and we’ve been in love ever since. The only complaint I have for my Mac is that it is to heavy. I have free time in places other then home. It would be marvelous if I could just whip out a mini laptop and start blogging, for instance.
This is what started my search for a netbook. They’re small and light, but easy to type on unlike a tablet. I began to research Samsung, Acer, and HP netbooks. I didn’t want to spend more that $200 so that brought is down to about 3 different options. I choose the Acer Aspire One 11 inch from Target for $180 and purchased it in January. Considering that this computer cost a fraction of what my Mac did, I didn’t know what to expect.
Word processing and general typing with this computer isn’t that bad. The keys feel cheap and have no spring to them. I haven’t had any issues with keys sticking or popping out. The track pad is horrible. When you touch it and move your finger to control the cursor, it doesn’t work the first couple of times. If you press down to click, nothing happens and it makes it impossible to use.
The screen resolution is decent but it looks a little discolored compared to the smart phone or computer screen. In terms of the processor, it’s solid however, issues with the track pad make everything seem like it takes forever. I guess you get what you pay for but I am very disappointed in this product and in Acer. I force myself to use this Cloudbook, I will probably try and return it.
So here is my advice, if you’re interested in purchasing a netbook don’t get an Acer and spend more than $200.
