Lately my face has been so sweaty. At first I thought is was just a summer time thing, but then it was September and my face was still sweaty. I went to the doctor a received a clean bill of health. So my next step, was to try and find a foundation that wouldn’t melt off my face.

I was always curious about Mat Velvet, especially since it had an affordable price. I purchased it from Sephora for $39 and it is available in 21 shades. At first I purchased the shade 77 but it was surprisingly to light. I exchanged it for shade 75, which was a perfect match. The texture is very thick and the color is very opaque. The first time I tried the foundation, I applied it with a foundation brush. The results were bad. My face looked so streaky. Now I apply the foundation with my finger and blend it with a sponge.

My skin is classic combination skin so I was hoping this foundation could handle my oily sweaty face. It last for a long time and I usually get about 9 hours of wear. After 9 hours I look very oily. There after definitely other foundations that stay matte longer, but this foundation looks the most natural.

Another way I’ve worn this foundation is by placing it just on my t-zone and wearing a luminous foundation on the dry parts of my face. This strategy has worked well for me, especially when taking pictures. I like Mat Velvet, but I don’t love it. Ironically, I think my skin is too oily/sweaty for this foundation.
