Beauty Battle: MAC Fluidline Brow Gel Crème vs. Anastasia Beverly Hills Dipbrow Pomade
“Eyebrows are what frames your face.” Although this beauty saying maybe cliché, it’s true. Without eyebrows, your forehead appears larger and it becomes obvious that something is missing from your face. You probably already have a pencil or powder routine to fill in your brows, however is it waterproof?
It would be tragic if a dip in the pool or ocean caused your eyebrows to disappear from sight. A remedy for this problem is a waterproof brow product. Two popular waterproof brow-filling products are MAC’s Fluidline Brow Gel Crème (in Deep Dark Brunette) and Anastasia Beverly Hills’ Dipbrow Pomade (in Chocolate). After using both products for over a month, here are the pros and cons for both.
Anastasia Beverly Hills Dipbrow Pomade is from the famous eyebrow guru Anastasia Soare. Her celebrity clientele includes Oprah Winfrey, Jennifer Lopez, and Naomi Campbell to name a few. This product is available in 5 shades and cost $18 for 0.14 ounces of product. It can be purchased at Sephora and Ulta.
The consistency of this product is thick and creamy. The color is very opaque, so a small amount of product goes a long way. The suggested brush to apply it with is the #12 brush from Anastasia Beverley Hills. The brush is amazing; it applies the product evenly and is easy to clean.
This product works very well on hair however, it is not as effective on skin. First you will need to outline your brow in pencil then go over it with this product. On skin, it applies splotchy and unevenly. Another disadvantage is that this product is often sold out in stores because it is so popular.
Let’s review the pros and cons of Anastasia Beverly Hills’ Dipbrow Pomade:
Pros
Comes in 5 shades
Has a large amount of product
Applies evenly on eyebrow hair
Cons
Does not apply evenly to skin
Hard to find in stock because of popularity
MAC’s Fluidline Brow Gel Crème is one of the newer eyebrow products released by the legendary makeup brand. This product can be purchased at MAC stores, MAC counters, and online from their website. It is available in 3 shades and cost $16 for 0.1 ounces of product.
A loose cream is the best way describe the consistency of this brow gel crème and it applies evenly on both skin and hair. It is very pigmented but it is not opaque and you may need to layer this product a couple of times.
In order to apply this product, it is best that you use a small angled brush. MAC suggests you used their 208 angled brow brush, however I also apply this product with the Anastasia Beverly Hills #12 brush.
Here are some of the pros and cons of MAC’s Fluidline Brow Gel Crème:
Pros
Applies evenly to skin and eyebrow hair
Is readily available at all MAC locations
Has a blendable consistency
Cons
Only comes in 3 shades
Isn’t opaque as competitors
No shade match for red/auburn hair
The winner: If you have sparse eyebrows or missing eyebrow hairs, you should try the MAC Fluidline Brow Gel Crème. If you just want to fill in average brows or you have red hair, try Anastasia Beverly Hills Dipbrow Pomade. This one is a tie!
