Don’t: Wear heavy foundations

Although wearing foundation is a great way to achieve an even skin tone, full coverage foundations cause more harm then good during warm weather months. Once these products mix with the extra oil and sweat, they will cause breakouts. Also if you want to wear white, your foundation may transfer to your clothes destroying a perfectly cute outfit.

Do: Wear strategically placed concealer

In order to cover skin imperfections try a long wearing concealer. Place the concealer only on your problem areas and make sure it is the same shade as your skin tone.  Set the concealer with a small amount of powder using a large powder brush. If you need more coverage than a concealer can provide, consider trying a BB, CC, or DD cream, depending on your skin care needs.

Don’t: Use products with out SPF

Protecting your skin for damaging UVA/UVB rays is very important. There are many beauty products like foundations, tinted moisturizers, and concealers that already have some SPF protection. If your favorite makeup doesn’t have SPF, try to find similar products that do.

Do: Apply sunscreen daily

Using a lightweight facial moisturizer that has SPF protection is a great start. In addition to sunscreen, using makeup that already has an SPF of at least 15 is very helpfully. Throughout the course of the day try applying a powder SPF product on top of your makeup for continuous protection.

Don’t: Get caught with orange palms

Faux tanning lotions are a healthier alternative to tanning beds. However, the palms of your hands shouldn’t be stained with tanner. Some self-tanning systems come with an applicator mitt so that your hands stay clean. If your hands are already orange, wash them with toothpaste or baking soda to remove the color.

Do: Exfoliate before tanning

Whether you’re going to a salon or tanning at home, exfoliation is key. This step is very important because removing those dead skin cells will make your tan last longer and cause it to fade gradually.
